Montage takes place at the start of each season and is the process of preparing the Eurocamp, Al Fresco Holidays and Fun Station services ready for the first guests to arrive. Montage consists of many manual tasks including distributing equipment, preparing tent pitches and assembling the tents, cleaning and preparing the exterior of mobile homes and terraces. Some Montage Teams, like the one’s involved in this blog, travel from area to area preparing our parcs for success!

Leanne, our Area Trainer for North Vendee, has been finding out what it is that our Montage Teams love about their job. We would like to thank Leanne and the following team members for sharing your love for Montage;

  • Big Rich (BR), Montage Leader,  Vendee and Paris, 19 seasons of experience
  • Steele (S), Montage Leader,  France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria, 7 seasons of experience
  • Wayne (W), Montage Assistant, Vendee and Paris, 10 seasons of experience
  • Ellie (E), Montage Assistant, Vendee and Paris, 2 seasons of experience
  • Lucinda (L), Montage Assistant, Vendee and Paris, 2 seasons of experience

What led you to doing this job role?

BR: I sort of fell into it and proved to be a natural

S: I like to know how things work and how to fix things and when it comes to tents there’s no better way to learn than doing montage.

W: My niece did it.

L&E A chance to extend the season. Get to know the foundations of the site. Contribute to setting the site to the highest standard.

What part do you enjoy the most?

BR: Completing a site so there’s nothing left to do

S: In my region we travel between different countries and Switzerland specifically blows me away every time I visit. Visiting new campsites and areas never gets old.

L&E: Being able to see different sites and compare them. Also being able to see the progression from demo condition to finished product.

What key skills do you think you need to complete this role successfully?

BR: You have to be fair. Never ask anyone to do something you wouldn’t do. Be organised and a good task juggler.

S: Strong work ethics, able to do physical work, enjoy travelling a lot and have a love for camping. Must be organised and able to plan well and a sense of humour.

W: You can learn it all on the job.

L&E: Communication. Work as a team. Motivation and a willingness to get stuck in.

What advice would you give to anybody looking to get into this role?

BR: Be prepared, be organised, plan, get well tooled up and above all keep your sense of humour for when it goes pear shaped.

W: Just go for it! You’ll be surprised what you can learn and make friends for life.

L&E: Be prepared to get down and dirty and work in all conditions. Always keep a positive outlook and it is a great way to learn more about the sites and how they all work. Montage teams aren’t bad company either!

Favourite inspirational quote/words to live by?

BR: Do it right the first time.

S: Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

W: Treat people how you want to be treated and leave things how you want to find them.

L: Dream big, stay positive, work hard and enjoy the journey

E: As long as you have passion, faith and are willing to work hard, you can achieve anything you want in this life
